Product Engineering

Your long-term product engineering partner

We don't just write code — we own outcomes. From product strategy to engineering execution, we're embedded in your success.

The difference between an agency and a product team: we've been the customer of our own work.

Agencies optimize for billable deliverables. Product teams optimize for what happens after shipping — activation, retention, revenue, the support ticket that reveals a design flaw. Because we build and operate our own SaaS products, we think like the second group by default.

That changes the work in concrete ways. We'll argue against features that won't move your metrics, even when building them would earn us more. We'll choose the architecture we'd want to maintain at 2am, because with our own products, we're the ones maintaining it at 2am. And we'll instrument everything, because we've learned that an unmeasured launch is just an expensive guess.

Engagements run from fixed-scope MVPs to multi-year partnerships. In every shape, you get the same operating system: weekly demos, transparent roadmaps, senior engineers, and a founder who stays personally accountable for the outcome.

Our definition of done

A feature isn't done when it merges. It's done when it's deployed, monitored, measured, and documented — and when someone other than its author can support it. Every engagement inherits that standard:

  • Working software demoed weekly — progress you can click, not status reports
  • Instrumentation before launch: activation, retention, and conversion events defined with you
  • Documentation and handover artifacts maintained continuously, not written in the final week
  • Post-launch reviews comparing shipped outcomes against the goals we set in discovery

FAQ

Product Engineering questions, answered

How is product engineering different from hiring developers?

Developers execute tickets; product engineers own outcomes. We participate in what to build and why — challenging scope, proposing cheaper paths to the same goal, and measuring whether shipped features actually move your metrics. You get a partner with opinions, not a ticket queue.

What does the discovery phase actually produce?

In 1–2 weeks you get a scoped MVP definition with explicit cut lines, a technical architecture document, a clickable flow of the core experience, and a fixed quote with timeline. It's a deliverable you can take elsewhere — though most clients continue with us.

How do you keep us in the loop during the build?

Weekly demo calls with the actual working product (never slide decks), a shared roadmap you can inspect anytime, and direct access to the engineers — including the founder — in a shared channel. If something slips, you hear it from us first, with options.

Who owns the code and IP?

You do, completely — code, designs, infrastructure, and documentation, assigned in writing in the services agreement. We build in your repos and your cloud accounts from day one so there's never a hostage situation.

What happens after launch?

Launch is the midpoint, not the finish. Most clients continue into a monthly engineering partnership covering iteration, performance, and growth features. Alternatively we hand over to your in-house team with documentation and transition support.
